Father Dougal
I decided to splash out and get a decoder. Digitrains only had a sound file compatible with Loksound, so I went ahead and bought it. Not used loksound before. Nice sound file but no dynamic brake key like I have with my Zimo decoders. I added a little more weight in the front as sometimes derailed after a curve into a point. Now runs fine. I have never owned a 14 before and I am surprised at how big she is. Here are a few shots and my new toy- a WiFi unit for Prodigy advance so I can also use my phone to play trains. Dougal.
Lord Flashheart
You've made a very nice job of the 14 Dougal,I built the DJH one (there's a thread somewhere for it) never again, terrible quality kit. Rob

Rob Hi, thank you for your kind comments. I followed your thread. You made a nice model. Did your 14 have any issues with going over curves? Lord Flashheart
Thanks Dougal, yes it does, the coupling rods on it are one piece so there's no compensation or side play which doesn't help,ok through Peco points but that's about it, I think the weight of it helps keep it on the track, which as you've pointed will probably help yours. I'm a big fan of the 14s so I'll be getting some Minerva ones when they come out. Rob
Father Dougal
A little running session this morning. 9529 busy shunting a solitary MOGO to the bagged clay facility. meanwhile 47148 passes on a diverted engineering duty. Father Dougal
In between restoring my 33, I have begun building a 37/4. The body shell is pretty much done now, but I have yet to decide where the chassis will be secured. My class 14 continues to see lots of service. Here she is propelling a few short postal vans to number 2 siding. Ever since I added that extra nose weight I have had no issues over curves or points and she just runs as I want her to. Father Dougal
Ok so, Not loads of modelling done lately as this little fellow below has been keeping Mrs Doyle and I quite busy! I finished my CDA build today. This is a Buzz model kit with a PRMRP CDA top. Goes well with my other CDA’s. I will order some sprung buffers from Roxey. I am awaiting a delivery of Mr Putty- I can fill a few gaps and then paint. I received a Slaters 40:1 gearbox today. I will fit this to a saddle tank I am working on. a few photos
Father Dougal
A bit more progress..... The CDA has been painted. I have run out of ECC logos so I need to order some. I will then add a very light dusting of clay powder. The saddle tank is coming along nicely. The body shell needs cleaning up and a bit of filler then I can paint. The chassis is almost done, I have yet to add the brake gear. She runs nicely. I had to modify the boiler to fit the gear box otherwise the build has been ok. I must admit, shaping the boiler was less fun and led to a spot of colourful language. The 37 hasn’t had much done lately. Once the saddle tank is done I will build the chassis and bogies. Dougal ps- can anyone advise what lights would be on a saddle tank?

Whilst most would have at least one lamp bracket front and rear industrial locos would, normally, only be required to carry lamps if working over B.R. lines and sidings. Of course some, larger, industrial railway systems may have had their own rules. Ray.

Father Dougal
After finishing my chores today, so that Mrs Doyle gives me my pocket money. I finished off fitting a decoder etc to my kit built 08. I built this in 2019, but it was plagued with running issues. I rebuilt the chassis 3 or 4 times. Over the couple of months I have built a new chassis and side frames. I also stripped the body back for a full repaint. Now she is done and she runs faultlessly. Got there in the end! Father Dougal
With a few days holiday I have found time to get on with my 37/4. The body shell and chassis are now painted. I need to build the cab interiors, fit lights, snow ploughs and finish the bogies. They are built, but I need wheels before I can fit the side frames. Oh, and a sneak peek at my next build. Father Dougal
08232 at the fuel point, whilst a class 56 waits in the siding. 37299 has now been weathered and most of the decals applied. A mock up of the cab interior is fitted to test. Mrs Doyle giving the workers a piece of her mind, oblivious to the new fire hose fitted. Father Dougal
This weekend I have mostly been building bogies. The side frames fit snuggly and the bogies run nicely on my track. I need to add the steps (a bogger to solder) and a few bits, no idea what they are called. I have also started the 03. I have had to scratch build a few pieces- they are the brass bits. Coming along nicely. I really must get the 37 done first so I won’t be doing anymore to the 03 for now. Dougal
Father Dougal
Pretty much finished the 37 now. I will fit the lights next weekend. The cab floors will be fitted prior to this. She runs well. I had a short at times, which was a wiper pick up touching the side of the bogie whilst going round a curve. A little insulation tape sorted this out. Looking forward to sound fitting her, once Mrs Doyle lets me have my pocket money. Dougal.
Father Dougal
I finished the 37 today. Lights and cab interiors done. Decoder will be ordered next week. I also had time to pick some berries and make crumble. Dougal.
Father Dougal
I succumbed and ordered a sound chip earlier than planned. I really should learn more self control.
Father Dougal
With the 37 now fully finished, I have done a bit more work on the 03. Lots of rails added. Soldering the windscreen wipers was fun. Run out of brass wire, I will need to pop into the model shop. The body is resting on the foot plate area for now. Father Dougal
I have spent the weekend doing some more work on the 03. The underframe detail is done for now. I may add a bit more once I have got the chassis running- I don’t want any detail in the way of the connecting rods. The steps were scratch built as was the cab interior. This just slots in. I need to add a few more grab rails and door handles then the body shell is done. Dougal. 6
Father Dougal
The Bagged clay facility has finally got a forklift. Seen here loading a solitary VEA. The 03 Bodyshell has been primed. The 56 has has snow ploughs added. Dougal.

Father Dougal
Hello Julian, eBay from Lunia3d. Look up 3D printed O gauge and you will find loads of sellers. Dougal
Father Dougal
I purchased 3 PCA kits a few weeks ago. Really impressed with them. I am going for subtle weathering. I have yet to order the wheels, transfers etc. I am experimenting with MIG streak effect paint. Dougal.
Father Dougal
The wheels and transfers are done now. I am awaiting the sprung buffers I have finished a couple of TTA’s. Father Dougal
I have made a start on the 143. The body shell was straightforward. The interior sub assembly is posed inside. I have fitted the larger seats. The cab detail is cool and even comes with a control console. Lots of tinkering to go yet. Dougal.
