mikesndbs
Hi guys. For many years it worked like this, I would take care of all the electrical and running gear, dad would do the actual modelling. But, with dad much older now it falls to me and I feel I should be able to do this. I have acquired a fair condition Hornby Britannia 1980s vintage, she had already been re-named and numbered. Tender drive has been given the once over, disappointingly nosy but I'll work on that. The project is to re name, re number, replace boiler lining, tender lining, cylinder and running plate lining. New smoke deflector names, smoke box door number and side numbers have been ordered. I've made contact with Modelmaster.co.uk regarding the orange-black-orange lining and await a reply. I'd be most grateful for advice on how to proceed. I've removed name plate you see and smoke box number plate. I think I’ll have to repaint the smoke deflectors. Here are some photos. Thanks. Londontram
Before you go to far it might be worth thinking about replacing the molded hand rails with proper knobs and wires though this would mean a complete repaint but could be worth it. A suitable car rattle can could be used to test your skills for the main loco colour with the black hand painted or if you feel you could do it masking off the green and spraying the black as well
hayfield
Can you tell which type of glue was used for the name and number plates
mikesndbs
Hi chaps Thanks, the handrails would look great but I feel would be a step too far for me just now. The glue used looks like evo stick type, I have it all removed now and have lightly sanded with fine wet & dry the area.
mikesndbs
Hi guys, sorry for delay. I have removed the transfers that had been applied, all gone well but there is still a clear sort of backing around where they were. Is there a way to cleanly remove this? I've tried washing and using thinners but it remains? Thanks
