20301/302/303/305/308/309 all stored XHSS at Barrow Hill. The latter five all were showing transfer and have done for the past couple of weeks since arriving from York after the RHTT season has finished. However all now have X next to them which suggests heavy exams, overhauls and repairs are to be carried out.

 

20304 is currently in store XHSS at Kingmoor whilst 20312 is at Crewe Gresty Bridge. Both are also in store, leaving DRS with no available Class 20/3s in traffic. This hasn't happened in a few years. Normally DRS keep a few in traffic after the RHTT season for nuclear flask trains and traffic.

 

Some more Class 37s are due to return to traffic or make an appearance with DRS. These are 37069, 37403, 37407, 37413 and 37424 possibly more...

 

Class 47s are all now stored XHSS and each now reside at one of four locations. These are Crewe Gresty Bridge, Carlisle Kingmoor, Eastleigh Works or Longtown.

 

47813 is at Crewe GB.

47805 & 47818 are at Carlisle Kingmoor.

47841 is at Eastleigh Works.

47790, 47810, 47828 and 47853 are all at Longtown for secure storage.

 

Alike the Class 20/3 fleet this now leaves no available Class 47s in traffic.

 

The majority of the Class 57/0 fleet have been stored XHSS in the past couple of weeks. This is due to the Anglia RHTT season finishing and the need for heavy exams, overhauls, repairs and repaints been required. The 57/0s stored are 002, 004, 008, 009, 010, 011 and 012. This just leaves 003 in active traffic as although 007 has been reinstated to the XHCK pool it still hasn't moved from Eastleigh Arlington.

 

The DRS Class 57/3s are all in active traffic.

 

66301-66305 are all in active traffic along with 66421-66427 and 66429-66434.

 

66428 is out of traffic although not stored follow a collision in an engineering possession a few months ago.

 

68001-68017 are all currently in traffic.

 

68018 and 68019 are currently at Carlisle Kingmoor for commissioning and to have there decals and names applied.

 

68020 and 68021 are expected to arrive in January.

Just a little update...

 

20301/302/303/304/305/308/309 are all now at Barrow Hill and all are currently stored XHSS. 20312 which was originally on the DRS for sale list has been withdrawn from the list and DRS are keeping it. It was transferred in a convoy last week to Crewe from Carlisle Kingmoor still in the XHSS storage pool. It currently resides at Crewe Holding Sidings on transfer status. It is planned that 20312 will become a spares donor for the other seven 20/3s at Barrow Hill. It will be transferred to Barrow Hill shortly. 20301 is in the shed at Barrow Hill receiving attention in preparation for a return to traffic. From photos the current line up at Barrow Hill in the DRS line from back to front is 20303, 20302, 20309, by the looks of it 20308 and then another at the front. With 20301 currently inside the shed and 20312 still at Crewe HS this leaves two more unaccounted for. One at the head of the DRS line and possibly the other is in the shed? The spare two not mentioned are 20304 and 20305.

 

37069 reinstated to the XHAC pool late last year made it's debut run on the mainline in late January running 0Z37 Derby RTC to Crewe Gresty Bridge. Welcome back!

 

37402 is now wearing Large Logo blue and 37403 (a few weeks ago) was partially repainted into Large Logo blue. 37405 has returned to traffic today from Derby RTC running 0Z05 to Norwich, following repairs at RTC after it suffered serious wheel flats in December. 37405 is still wearing DRS Compass livery. Welcome back!

 

DRS have sold 47790, 47805 and 47841 to Locomotive Services Limited at Crewe. 790 and 805 which resided at Kingmoor until late last week were transferred to Crewe Holding Sidings by 68003 with 20312 also in the consist. 790 and 805 are both debranded of there Northern Belle and DRS Compass liveries, have had there nameplates, crests (790) and lettering removed. The pair have been handed over to LSL at Crewe HS. 841 currently resides at Eastleigh Works. All three are now in the MDBL pool as of around two weeks ago.

 

47810/813/818/828 and 853 are all still currently stored XHSS at Longtown. The sale period for these locos and other locos/stock is now over so currently awaiting developments...

 

57002 has been to Longport for repairs and was released yesterday running 0Z57 to Crewe Gresty Bridge. 57009 has gone the other way to Longport for repairs. Both are currently stored XHSS.

 

57306 visited Eastleigh Works briefly a few weeks ago for an exam and returned to traffic a few days later. 57309 is now at Eastleigh Works.

 

The very first Northern Belle of 2016 is due to run on Friday and 57310 and 57312 both at Crewe Gresty Bridge have been allocated as of yesterday. Things may have changed...

 

66422 has been repainted into the Revised DRS livery at Eastleigh Arlington and is now back in traffic. 66431 is now at Eastleigh Arlington for a repaint into the Revised DRS livery.

 

66428 has been moved from Glasgow Works to Wolverton Works for further collision damage repairs.

 

68018 and 68019 have had there DRS vinlyls and names applied at Carlisle Kingmoor and last Thursday (4th February) worked light engine to Longport for attention.

 

The next batch of 68s are expected to arrive in March. Not sure if it's just 68020 and 68021 or 68022 with those two as well.

Many thanks for all the input, but at the end of the day all I wish to achieve is a layout that represents DRS depot in the main in the early years.

 

But as Rule 1 says

 

You may find a class 68 or a Malcolm 08 lurking in the depot if it takes me fancy.
