philsandy
I know this sounds like how long is a piece of string, but I'm going to scratch build a small water tank (similar to photo) for the end of a branch platform, LMR circa 1960, and just need some approx. dimensions of the tank diameter and depth. I have some 50mm plastic tube I could use, this would mean 12.5 feet dia. in 4mm, and maybe 8 feet in depth. Would that be about right?
34theletterbetweenB&D
Think that's a bit big. Scaled relative to the adjacent tender and specimen bloke, I'd think the tank exterior will be around 6' tall, 8' diameter.

smokebox
Assuming the tender is about 8 feet wide, I would say the diameter could be about 12 feet.
RMweb Premium jamie92208 Posted December 16, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 16, 2015 It looks to be about 6' high (The same as the back of the tender (roughly). It looks to be about 8' diameter to me which would comfortably hold a tender full of water. If it wasn't used very often then it would easily fill up between uses. RMweb Premium Northroader Posted December 16, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 16, 2015 The tank in the picture looks bit like a NER one. This type of tank was limited in capacity, as it was balanced on a column, after all, to 2000 gallons, so OK for topping up a branch line loco, but no good for a busy steam depot. Typical dimensions (for OO) NER 36mm dia., 22mm. Height. LNWR 34mm dia.,, 26mm. Height GWR. 31mm.dia., 30mm. Height Just the tank size, of course, but your tube is too big, I'm afraid.
