Fat Controller
This came up as a topic of conversation with someone at Stafford today. What was the cleaning regime internally for milk tankers? How often was it carried out and indeed where? Disgusting of Market Harborough I remember at Carmarthen, one of the loading points was next-door to the station; there, they used a steam lance to clean the tanks as soon as they returned from London. I believe they were also rinsed out with clean water at the unloading points. This was done after every loaded trip- the outside, of course, wasn't treated in the same way, which meant you could always tell if the Milk had just passed during the summer. Karhedron
Yes, steam cleaning before loading was essential as the stuff could spoil easily. I remember a reference to one dairy using local spring water for cleaning but I cannot remember which one.
