Hornby Railroad 31

As the railroad 31 was  originally the Lima model it should be a straight forward fit, however there may be some slight internal mods required as Hornby have redesigned the motor unit for a new 5 pole can motor and 8 pin DCC chip socket in its railroad models.

Other than the different weights fitted internally to these two models, the new chassis is a direct replacement fit under older Lima body shells. It may be necessary to remove some of the internal transparent plastic (glazing shell) beneath the roof line . The new motor doesn't cause any problems when body and chassis are united and is a vast improvement over the pancake version, with the added advantage of not being so obvious.

I have bought a few of the Hornby Railroad Class 31s and have been able to unclip the Hornby body and replace with the Lima body shell without having to do anything more than clip the body on.  There is no need to remove any plastic whatsoever.
