Poor Old Bruce
A 'fitted head' is the front bit of a 'part fitted' goods train and comprises wagons fitted with automatic brakes with the brake pipes connected to the locomotive (and therefore operative) so that the train has more braking power than just the locomotive and is therefore allowed to run at higher speed. Different classes of goods train require different amounts of fitted wagons.
