BG John
I've just come across this new product, aimed at ship modellers. It looks as if it might be useful for us too. Currently available in two sizes: http://starling-models.co.uk/index.php?id_product=762&controller=product&id_lang=2 http://starling-models.co.uk/index.php?id_product=763&controller=product&id_lang=2 There's more on Facebook about it, and I think the supplier is suggesting it could be available in larger pieces. Not cheap to cover a large area, but may be worth it to save a lot of work. For something like a quay close to the edge of the baseboard, one piece may be enough. https://www.facebook.com/starlingmodels/photos/?tab=album&album_id=612892445556405 Edited to add: Just found the manufacturer http://www.coastalkits.co.uk/newstore/ships.html
michaelp
Just had a look at these, they seem very realistic but not sure if they would be suitable for a river/canal scene.
BG John
I agree about rivers and canals, but was thinking of harbours and quays. I asked on Facebook about using it in 1:76 and 1:43 scales for that, and the seller thought it should be OK. I need a small amount of water for the quay at the front of the baseboard on "Small, Broad and Totally Pointless", so may give it a try.
michaelp
I will be building a harbour too so may still go for this product, thanks for posting the links to the web site.

BG John
I would love to see any photos of it when you have it finished Michael If I can find the missing track gauge I need to make further progress on the layout, I may well order some sooner rather than later, and post a photo!
