Barnaby
That's a classical Mike build, attention to detail, beautifully portrayed and firmly based in reality, great work. Thoroughly inspired I'll be doing some more back scene work tomorrow on my layout after gardening chores have been done, let it rain, let it rain, let it rain. Sun VI
Hello Mike, I've just come across your thread. Marvellous work sir. May I ask where you get the corrugated sheeting from? I do hope that your health soon improves, hats off to you for keeping going.

Thanks for the compliment, the card is available from http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/craft-essentials-corduroy-card-a4-5-sheets/628351-1000 I think it's on Ebay and Argos. Hope that helps and hope the link works.
Mike
Off with his head, well not exactly its been a case of off with part of the fiddle yard baseboard top so that the canal can be fitted. The baseboard will be widened by 50 mm so that the opposite bank/towpath can be modelled. Although still not finished I've put the factories in place to see if they really will form the view blocker I planned.
Mike
Exit stage right, OK., exit to fiddle yard. Just a trial bodge up to see if my cunning plan actually will work. Shoved a couple of bits of ply to act as canal level and tried the Joey/BCN Day boat I've just started work on just for effect.
Guius
Hi Mike, Very much enjoyed your piece on 'Wellington Street' in the current GOG Gazette, only one criticism, it was too short. Best Guy

Sun VI
... canopy will be added next and the sides/end/roof although the latter will have to wait until my order arrives from Cornwall Model Boats... Hello Mike, thanks for your reference to Cornwall Model Boats. I ordered some ply and other bits and I'm very pleased with what's been delivered. Very useful, thanks again. Mike
Having just returned from our Holiday in Greece I have ventured out into the retreat and started a bit more bodging in plasticard namely a BCN day boat/joey. It's all a bit on the back of an envelope and a couple of photos sort of modelling.
81A Oldoak
"It's all a bit on the back of an envelope and a couple of photos sort of modelling." Mike, This is a technique that has served me very well over the years. The apoplectic reaction of a particular breed of model-maker is also a satisfying side effect. Mike
The back of an envelope and a couple of photos sort of modelling has progressed the joey which is now slowly taking shape. Stern to finish, towing posts to make and fit plus the rudder assembly the a lot of tidying up before primer.

Mike
Fiddle yard board almost complete after my total spend at Guildex on 2 yard lengths of rail. Narrow boat to finish and paint, then add the water to the canal. Buildings in place just the final weathering to do.

P9050005.jpg P9050007.jpg P9050009.jpg Glad to see you pushed the boat out with you spend at Guildex, no pun intended, so please amend to 'barge', no sorry .......narrowboat. More Mike Bragg 'ships' (masterpieces) on display, Ashwood is at WSM this coming Sunday. Nice one Mike, regards John.
Mike
Wearing long sleeved jumper and cotton gloves I have done a bit more to the fiddle yard view blocker. The narrow-boat is now a generic model as it has been pointed out elsewhere that there are several things wrong for it to be a BCN Joey. The use of superglue when wearing cotton gloves is not a good idea, just don't ask how I know, suffice to say getting stuck in has a whole new meaning.
Mike
Just chopped the narrowboat cabin it was too long and didn't slope in enough. Thanks to Martin Field for pointing me in the right direction. It's now better but far from perfect and the boat also has a towing mast. Will post a photo once the glue has set and it has had a spray over with primer.
RMweb Gold Donw Posted September 20, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 20, 2017 I didn't know whether to give that a like or show sympathy for the superglue problem. Looks alright to me. What are you going to do to show signs of the load it carries coal dust in the edges or something else? Don
Mike
According to someone I'm only interested in plaudits and not open to criticism, as you will have seen I have listened and changed things on my narrowboat build. Slowly taking shape with the much altered cabin, thanks again to Martin (Western Thunder) Lots of weathering required and of course some sort of load. Back on topic.. I`m liking the narrow boat scene, but knowing nothing about barges,i would`nt have known that it had the wrong shaped cabin. nice work... Brian. Mike
Loading taking place, figures being painted, scene almost complete, need to source scale mooring lines. Oh! for the person who voiced comments on another forum, please feel free to add your criticism here, although I have acknowledged the helpful comments from Martin Field.
