smalspoorcompagnie
In the past I made a 'Salvage-wagon' for my Witney Railway in 00. I would now like to have one in 7mm. Is there a kit for the iron mink available (I found ABS - but 'available') ??? Transfers would also be nice, if not I will letter it myself - like I did with the small version. Also, (is that OK in this thread?) I am still looking for a Lionheart Frost coal wagon in 7mm. I do have the Marriott one from POWsides. (I had those in 00 too for this Witney Railway) Guillaume (Smalspoorcompagnie)
DOCJACOB
I thought the ABS one was a Gunpowder van. I have one built (something I won off e-bay) that has been morphed into a Mink by changing the doors?
Simond
Guillaume, I believe that ABS do have both Iron Mink and Gunpowder variants in their range. I'm not sure if Scorpio models may have etched brass versions, I don't think they have a website. re ABS, I know Adrian has been ill, I do not know when or where he will surface at a show, but maybe a letter will get you the kit you are looking for. I don't currently have an address or contact details, but there were some published. sorry - also meant to say - if the mink in your photo is both 4mm and hand painted, it is better than excellent - do you want a few more paint jobs to do???? hope this helps Simon
MarcD
Which type of mink? We do a GWR type, Barry type or a taff vale type all of which we do as brass kits. Marc
smalspoorcompagnie
Just found out about WEP models...also constructed by Dutch modeller Cor de Jong. I think I should forget about ABS if he is the only supplier. Marc, I could not find pictures of your 'modelminks'. I am not an expert, but it looks like I need a diagram V6 10 ton iron mink. The 4mm mink is lettered using Letraset rub-down letters (they were available 35 years ago...) So - nothing special. GWR markings came from another kit. I never do commisions - I hate most of these jobs, but the results can make me very happy Guillaume

I can confirm that it is, as you say, a 10T V6. The ABS kit is Ref O.291. They come up on eBay regularly so keep your eyes open! Dave

RMweb Gold Mikkel Posted November 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2016 As I have no connection to Furness, I can provide the relevant links: The Furness gallery is here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/2380-furness-wagon/ - and the GWR Mink is here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/image/73481-gwr-mink-small/
RMweb Gold markjj Posted November 2, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 2, 2016 ABS or WEP I have built both in the past but the WEP kit is readily available and far superior...

Griff353
I built mine from a WEP kit. And got some custom transfers from railtech transfers. Trying to work out how to add a finished photo. No experience of the Furness kit but sure it is equally good
