Southernman46
loco was allocated to Speke - so in the Ford works / Garston docks area ?
RMweb Gold TheSignalEngineer Posted January 10, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 10, 2017 Although it spent a while in the West Midlands I think it got to Springs Branch around the Blue Era. More probably in the North West, somewhere like the glass works areas of St Helens.
APOLLO
Ravenhead Road Pilkington's glass works St Helens perhaps ? (the lattice tower) Lots of sidings around here worked by BR locos in the early 70's (when diesel locos had no D prefix). D308 (3082 in the photo) was allocated to Wigan Springs Branch in the 70's, and Springs Branch locos were common around St Helens back then. http://www.brdatabase.info/locoqry.php?action=locodata&type=D&id=3089&loco=13089 Old map showing crossing http://maps.nls.uk/geo/explore/print.cfm#zoom=17&lat=53.4459&lon=-2.7460&layers=6&b=1 Brit15
