RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted February 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2017 I spotted this last week, never seen one like it. Does anyone know why? And are there any others anywhere? Andi
RMweb Gold big jim Posted February 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2017 most people wouldnt give something like that a 2nd glance yet alone say its unusual! maybe its something to do with limited clearances as i notice there is a canopy in view, its not platform 2 at crewe by any chance? No, it's not Crewe, the canopy stops a good way short of the portal in question. It is Stafford https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.8040293,-2.1233289,126m/data=!3m1!1e3 X marks the spot... RMweb Gold big jim Posted February 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2017 i wonder if its because its above a platform to reduce the risk of something touching the live parts of the OHLE, the arm leading to it has insulators quite close to the piece in question which i would in theory keep the live part above the trackwork thus needing the revised arm, as opposed to the longer arm on the other line which is fully above the trackwork on the up slow side you do realise you are now going to make me look for more of these now! RMweb Gold big jim Posted February 13, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2017 and as if by magic here is another one, this time the south end of stafford station this time on the adjacent line to your pic
RMweb Gold Dagworth Posted February 13, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted February 13, 2017 Ah yes, that makes sense, to keep everything above the platform on the right end of the insulator. Andi
Titan
Very interesting - not seen anything like that before, I will have a chat with a colleague at work and see if he knows anything about them - it is certainly quite rare.
