RMweb Gold Huw Griffiths Posted March 26, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 26, 2010 Following on from OzzyO's post, I'd wondered about Mk 2 coaches - perhaps I should have looked more closely! In case anyone is interested in XP64, I recently came across some material about it on The Railways Archive. Firstly, there's a page about XP64: http://www.railwaysa...y.php?docID=353 If you scroll down to the foot of this page, you'll come across a link to a BR pamphlet about XP64, which includes a number of usable drawings and photos: http://www.railwaysa...RB_XP641964.pdf If you look at the "timeline" box on this page, you'll also find links to documents about: Air-con Mk 2 coaches http://www.railwaysa...y.php?docID=373 Blue Pullman http://www.railwaysa....php?docID=1057 and http://www.railwaysa....php?docID=1058 I'm sure there'd be some stuff more relevant to 1st generation DMUs, however I haven't had chance to check out the rest of the site. gobbler
here's the little bit more i said i had done. the derby i'm building you'll notice has the bars across the drivers cab windscreens. the drawing i'm working from is one of the old model rail drawings. (does not show the windscreen 'bars') all the southminster pictures i have with the DLW show the bars. Scott
RMweb Gold Huw Griffiths Posted March 27, 2010 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 27, 2010 I can see what you meant about giving the game away. I always had a soft spot for those units - the original windscreen style probably didn't do much for crashworthiness, but it did give them a "timeless" look. It'll be interesting to see how you get on. Regards, Huw.
ozzyo
Oh well, its going to look good, would still like some XP64 stock. OzzyO.
gobbler
have recently discovered that the version (later) i'm doing has different windows in the guard compartment. can anyone help with a scale drawing? I could do it by eye, but it would be nice to get it correct. Scott
