Final preparations complete ready for set up tomorrow afternoon.

A years worth of preparation is nearly reality, look forward to welcoming you all to the show.

Scott

SRMG Show Manager

Paul (Blue Circle Quarry) and I (Rosamund Street) will see you 'early' Saturday morning Scott.

.

Have you arranged the red carpet, and scattered rose petals for our arrival  ?

Quite a busy show, fair mix of things to see. The one concern I would have it seems to have outgrown the LC2 Hall already, and Swansea isn't overly blessed with exhibition venues, certainly none with parking more convenient than the LC has (Guildhall has awful, parking and not easy to find if your not a local.

Couple of enjoyable hours spent at LC2 this morning. Some very nice layouts on show (two standouts for me), but (& I know they help pay for the show) a few too many box shifters for me. And there seemed to be a few layouts missing from the list on the website? Or was I just walking round with eyes tight shut?!

Still, fiver well spent (OK, six quid as I splashed out on a show guide too!) for a nice Sunday morning!

I think Petite properties and one other were missing according to a notice near the entrance. I suppose that it depends what you want with traders/box shifters. I didn't go to buy much(I've more or less given up) but the more specialist small ones would be very welcome. Don't want to start any speculation LOL but there were not any Oxford Mark 3 samples on their stand . The buildings looked good though.

Sorry, I meant missing layouts rather than traders (I managed to stick to my intention not to buy anything, for once!). From the list on the website I don't recall seeing the ones below?

Cuckoo Lane (O)
Eine Alpe (HO)
Carmarthen Junction (N)
Ashcombe (N)
Graig Wen (0)
Blenheim Road (00)
Simonian Quay (N)

Simonian Quay was definitely there but not perhaps quite in the location on the plan. Carmarthen Junction which I looked for didn't look like or match the size of the described layout. The one layout where it should have been had a For Sale  sign on it and looked much smaller than the size given in the guide.

Simonian Quay was there.

.

Cuckoo Lane was also there, it was next to my layout - and the lovely lady in the exhibiting team presented me with a chocolate cake.

.

I cannot comment on the other layouts as two exhibitors with two layouts meant most of my time was spent operating.

I must have missed it when I was talking to you then Brian!

I do often seem to miss an awful lot when wandering around shows!

Only Cuckoo Lane and Eine Alpe were absent. Unfortunately, both for unavoidable reasons. Two smaller traders were absent, too. Scott [Earl Bathhurst] can comment further if he wishes, as Exhibition Manager, but for our first major paid-for event, we have learned quite a lot about running these things. Not everything - ever - goes entirely to plan but, as enthusiastic amateurs, I think we did pretty well for a debut event.

It's good to be receptive to lessons learned and certainly, there are some things which will probably be done differently next year but, as Chair of the club, I am genuinely proud of the achievements of Scott and his team.

As a layout exhibitor can I second that please. From our perspective went very well and a very friendly show!

Many thanks to the organisers for inviting us! Can we come back with Mk2 Abbotswood in 3 years time please?

That leaves me confused, as the main street only street on the layout next to me, (a narrow gauge model, by the Cynon Valley folks) was 'Cuckoo Lane' -  I commented upon the name.

.

What are the chances of that ?

.

Anyway, nice to chat to the visitors, renew old acquaintances and see bump into a few old faces.

Only downside, age dictates "my back was in arf" after standing all day, for two days.

I would think so, but you'll need to be dressed correctly mind you and bring your hat....

Same here, I certainly didn't see 3 N gauge or more than one O gauge layout..!

Really did enjoy the show though, thanks for all the time & effort put in to organising it.
