RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted October 12, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) As I said earlier the British outline RTR trade is absolutely and unshakeably committed to 4mm scale 00 guage for historic reasons that are too deeply entrenched to be challenged now. I am of the view that an opportunity was lost in the late 70s when several new manufacturers arrived on the RTR scene offering models of a much higher standard than had been hitherto avaiably; it is a great shame that the moment was not seized to introduce these in H0. Lima actually had a stab at this, but were very much a lone wolf and the quality of the models did not, to be honest, promote H0 as a higher quality better scaled product; they were very cheap and plasticky. But if Airfix and Mainline had been able to follow Lima's lead, matters might be different nowadays. Edited October 12, 2017 by The Johnster
