Unicorn1
Good Evening I am just finishing a couple of S6 ex GWR fish vans to run on Bishopscombe. As these would run as tail traffic on up trains I have assumed they would be fitted with lamp irons, but can find no photographic evidence. So, my question is, would they have been fitted with one or more lamp irons at each end (the Churchwood type most probably) and where would they be positioned? RMweb Gold gwrrob Posted October 2, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 2, 2017 Not sure 100 % but I think the lamp iron was attached to the bufferbeam to the left of the vacuum pipe.
RMweb Premium Siberian Snooper Posted October 2, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 2, 2017 Just had a look in the bible, GWR Goods Wagons by Aitkin et al and the photos show the lamp iron more or less above the left-hand buffer.
