Mk1 coaches in blue grey around Salisbury in 1980s

Recommended Posts

Which (if any) of the new Hornby blue grey mk1 coaches would be suitable for a layout based loosely in the south west?

Thinking Cardiff to Portsmouth trains running through Salisbury.

they are all prefix W which is good.

by my reckoning

SK = R4772

SO = R775

BSK = R4774

CK = ?

BG = ?

Mk 1 SK (18xxx)

BSK (34xxx)

CK (35xxx)

FK (7xxx)

TSO (13xxx)

Mk2a BFK (17xxx)

For 1980 the number sequences for Mk1s were

SK 24xxx-262xx

BSK 34xxx-354xx

CK 15xxx-162xx

FK 13xxx

TSO 37xx-50xx

BFK 14xxx

Coaches in the following ranges are too late for 1980

SK in 18xxx-19xxx

CK in 7xxx

BFK in 17xxx

Surviving coaches in the following ranges were renumbered from 1983 when coaches were added to TOPS to avoid clashing with locos and SR units.

14xxx

15xxx

16xxx

25xxx

26xxx

Edit: or were the DMUs a bit earlier?
