How about a Dictator Loco Class?
Good news, shapeways postage price in the UK has been lowered at long, long last. A step in the right direction. It had been about £8 for standard postage, which is steep if you were buying something very small and cheap. Now it's under £5. Check this link for exact details including faster postage. https://www.shapeways.com/support/shipping?etId=168782681&utm_source=sw-email-2&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20171109-uk-shipping-update My shapeways customers only buy in their masses when there are postage offers. So this is good news for shops, shoppers and designers. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/bobsbitsandbobs Edited November 11, 2017 by How about a Dictator Loco Class?
Quarryscapes
Doesn't say who's handling the new service, anybody know?
MGR Hooper!
Doesn't say who's handling the new service, anybody know? Could be wrong, but I think all the new updated shipping rates that are low are all being handled and delivered by each country's own postal system. Royal Mail for example. MGR Hooper!
I hope there's news in future about Asia. Shipping some stuff to Dubai is pointless when you buy a $5 item and pay $26.99....

Royal Mail for example. I'd have thought so based on price, but there's no way RM would do Netherlands to UK in 2 days. I just hope it's not Hermes.
billbedford
Doesn't say who's handling the new service, anybody know? Yes it does - UPS & USPS
How about a Dictator Loco Class?
Well UPS is the only carrier mentioned on their site and throughout that link. Except USPS? MGR Hooper!
Yes it does - UPS & USPS Can't see any mention of USPS. Can only see UPS, DHL, UPS Express and Standard Shipping
billbedford
'Standard Shipping' IS USPS. See the last section - 'Non-serviceable Countries'
Talltim
Delivery has always been my issue with Shapeways. Their courier nearly always comes when we are out and then I have to collect it from a corner shop the other side of town. At least I go past the Royal Mail collection place nearly daily

cal.n
Great news, as someone of produces smaller, cheaper products on shapeways, I felt it was only worth getting something small to add to a big order to get moneys worth with a huge postage charge. Now I feel I can really compete with traditional detail parts (etch, resin etc)
Mike Storey
Your thread title is a little misleading. It is not good news for all. Postage to France seems to have stayed very high, but not to some other EU countries, which is bizarre. Perhaps there are not enough orders from here to get bulk discount rates. Nonetheless, very good news for many.

Hopefully other areas than the UK will benefit from better pricing soon.

I suspect it depends more on how much business the delivery company has in France, and whether it is restricted by some bureaucrat to safeguard local postal delivery company! Mike Storey
I suspect it depends more on how much business the delivery company has in France, and whether it is restricted by some bureaucrat to safeguard local postal delivery company! Yes on the first, very much doubt it on the second. It is normally via DHL here, from Shapeways, on my previous orders. La Poste may be a bit protectionist, but they have no say these days on the extent of DHL, or indeed the other mob, whose name escapes me, that dominate parcel delivery here. One firm that does use standard post services for their parcels, from whom we receive quite a large volume courtesy of the current Mrs Storey, tends to energise our local post lady, as she retrieves the parcels one by one from her van, into various suggestions about our lifestyle, with the insinuation that we should not be causing her so much work.... she even made me install a larger post box, by moaning so much that she had to keep ringing our bell. I always send the returns via normal parcel post too, from our local post office (whence she works), and it was clear the counter staff were not happy either. But since there were threats to shut it down, and make us travel another 30 Km to the next nearest, such complaints seem to have ceased, and the service is now extraordinarily good. Bit OT, sorry.
