DavidB-AU
Samantha has reset the laser display board to update the new year and the 2018 edition of Stovold's Almanac should have arrived last week. So we open a new game. The first game of the year dictates Standard Metropolitan Variation.Ravenscourt Park
Jamiel
Nice opening move.Well taking Ravenscort, being John Peel's actual surname I will play an old BBC authenticated move and swing us around to...St. Johns Wood Edited January 2, 2018 by Jamiel

rovex
Well from Oval, which is almost a circle but squashed a bit, I propose to do the impossible and square the circle, SLOANE SQUARE
DavidBird
From the Sloane Ranger, skip to the Ranger's House... (Apologies, I'm a bit rusty. Is this is allowed in the Std Metropolitan Version?) North Greenwich
wollastonblue
I did note in the latest Almanac that London Overground, DLR and Emirates Cable cars can be brought into play now. So I think it's time to play the Hipsters Dodge to: Shoreditch High Street
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 3, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 3, 2018 Oh no, not those as well - I may need to get a fresh wild card from Barry Cryer, but he's not visited our local theatre for a while, so let's say that for this year, my scope is limited to standard play. So let's go slip sliding away to MUDCHUTE
DavidBird
Deleted. Apologies, I moved out of turn there. Must pay attention more. Edited January 4, 2018 by DavidBird
Jamiel
Well if you have been in the Mudchute you had better clean yourself odd a bit with some nice cleanBAYSWATER Edited January 4, 2018 by Jamiel
rovex
And having scrubbed up you might want to pay a visit to WATERLOO
wollastonblue
I'd be flushed by that move, but according to my calculations, we have entered a period of 5 moves all to Mainline Stations so with that and a bear in hand: Paddington
letterspider
I'll see your 5 and I raise you 5 more starting with a short ride on the Bakerloo to Marylebone and straight into a cafe for a marmalade sandwich.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 8, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2018 Well, angry monarchs must appear here from time to time so it's KINGS CROSS

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 8, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2018 four down, one to go, and don't forget that if it's North of the river, it will put the Northern Line in spoon for two moves as well.
37409
That makes it easy....... CHARING CROSS With the Northern Line now in Spoon that stops any move direct to MC
wollastonblue
With the Northern Line in Spoon, time to move using the Ray Davies Kink to Victoria
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 8, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) I was well on my way to MC when I remembered that my wild card is invalid this year until I can get it renewed by Barry (unlikely), so it has to be a Bakerloo Bounce to REGENTS PARK Puts the Northern back in play, but City branch only for now, so MC still not playable. Clue - a Piccadilly Pass might help here, but puts me in nip for three moves. Edited January 8, 2018 by 45156

RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 8, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) I think we haven't finished our mainline termini yet so jubilantly on to London Bridge.... Actually we had, with five after Paddington so that need has been met and fulfilled, and it's not my turn yet, but I have a brilliant move planned provided it doesn't get messed up in the meantime. Oops, I missed the five more requirement, so I must now stand in the corner for a few moves with the pointed hat on my head. I'm surprised nobody else saw that foul move. If I am not mistaken all prior calls are cancelled and on top of that I am going to call the Fast Eddie Hustle to claim two free goes and may as well finish this round off with MORNINGTON CRESCENT Anyone fancy the Holden variation - in which case I start with SUDBURY TOWN
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted January 9, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2018 (edited) Ooh you are a rotter, a cad, and it leaves me with no option than to reply with a move in the Holden tradtion, and with the DLR in play, with CUTTY SARK FOR MARITIME GREENWICH Edited January 9, 2018 by 45156
