Gordon A
How did Avonside classify its different types of loco's? I am trying to find some information and drawings for Edwin Hulse (0-6-0 ST 1798/1918), previously Imperial Smelting Co, Avonmouth No 2 or engines of the same type. Has anyone written a book on the productls of the Avonside loco works? Gordon A
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted January 18, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 18, 2018 Hello Gordon, have you tried speaking to M Shed about it? Andy, David and Chris may know something about how the classification system worked. IIRC 'Portbury' is almost exactly the same as ISC No.2, though the latter has an extended bunker. The only ones I recall with designations are the B3 type - I think 'Sir John' and the MDHB locos are this design.

Marshall5
The only ones I recall with designations are the B3 type - I think 'Sir John' and the MDHB locos are this design. I don't know how their classification system worked either but the preserved MDHB #1 is a B2 (unlike the majority which were B3's as you say) and the small 0-4-0 ST's like Trojan were class SS. Ray.
