PenrithBeacon
This model always comes with a Fowler chimney no matter the livery. But from the 40s on a Stanier chimney was substituted as the Fowlers wore out. My question is does anybody know which size of Stanier chimney was used and do they know of a supplier? Sandhole
I'm not being deliberately obtuse, but my answer is, " Find a photograph of the locomotive you want to model and follow on from that" Sorry!!! As a class, they had all sorts of chimney variations. As regards suppliers, 247 once used to do every variation of the Stanier chimney. Brassmasters do kits for the 4F, they had a similar variation of chimneys, so you might be lucky there. The last is Wizard Models who now do the Comet range. All of these have websites. I hope this is of some help. Chris.
Mad McCann
From my own observation of photos, a majority of the ScR 2Ps seem to have retained the Fowler chimneys though the situation may have been different for English based engines. Leander
I stand to be corrected on this but my understanding is that the LMS used the same style/size of 'Stanier's chimney on both the 2P and 4F classes although certain 4Fs carried a taller version. It makes sense as the 2P and 4F shared the same boiler although they were interchangeable.
