SDJR7F88
Hi all. Just to let you know Amiens will be late for set-up this morning, as my car has broken down. Currently on route after reloading to another vehicle. Think my post yesterday evening might of been a Jinx...
RMweb Gold mudmagnet Posted April 13, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 13, 2019 Great show, myself, Ray and James had a great day visiting. None of us spend too much, just a few bits and pieces. 5
fluff
Salsdorf set up and ready to go. Let’s hope that’s still the case tomorrow! Apologies to all who wandered by when we had a massive point failure! Now repaired after a fashion. Thanks to Meg who kept things going and chatted while I was upside down beneath the layout!
SDJR7F88
An excellent first day. In the end all work out well with Amiens 1918, car however is going in for repairs next week. Managed to have a quick look around during the last hour of the day, was amazing to see many of the layouts seen in here in the flesh and meet the people behind them. Roll on day 2!
Bluemonkey presents....
Great show. Big thank you to the Bentley group for hosting again. 1 1
37114
Really enjoyed my few hours today, great to catch up with a few familiar faces. Highlights for me was Denton Brook (the crane and radio controlled lorries are a work of art, while the presence of a split box class 37 is always welcome), Bakewell street and Roundtree sidings. Sorry to hear that Fenchurch st Peter had to pull out as I was looking forward to seeing it. 1

George Woodcock
Hello I too was sorry that Fenchurch St Peter was unable to attend. I'm starting to feel a bit better and am going for a CT Scan tomorrow. Hopefully we can take up Geoff's kind offer and bring the layout next year. Glad the show is going so well. Cheers George
TrentValleyRailway
Great show and quality layouts all round with the highlights below. Trainwest 2019 Model Railway Exhibition - Part 1 Trainwest 2019 Model Railway Exhibition - Part 2
RMweb Premium 30368 Posted April 14, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 14, 2019 Visited Trainwest yesterday and really enjoyed the exhibition. Particularly enjoyed meeting Mrs Judith Edge and Mr Edge who spent time chatting about the Great Central and the Herculaneum Dock set up. Purchased a Judith Edge fret for a 4mm B9 4-6-0. I have no idea how I can justify this loco ending up on 70D, perhaps a cross country special from Immingham around 1948 or similar?! Thanks to all for all of your hard work, particularly the Bentley Model Railway Group. Kind regards, Richard B

Geoff Endacott Well, they did an excellent job, got there without any problems. I suggest that a standard 'Train Show' sign as you use should be a must for any exhibition organizer. It was a most enjoyable afternoon
SDJR7F88
Ha a wonderful weekend with Amiens 1918 at the show! Even managed to get to have a quick run around with the camera over the 2 days too. Here's a quick video I put together of the show. 13th & 14th April 2019 saw the Bentley Model Railway Group host their annual TRAINWEST 2019 Model Railway Exhibition, Corsham, Wiltshire. This years line-up featured no less than 21 layouts in a variety of gauges and scales, including my 009 Scale WW1 Trench Railway - Amiens 1918, as well as a good selection of Trade Stands and Demos. Hope you enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZidDnxgYL8&t=541s
RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted April 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2019 It was a really good show with a very high standard of layout, perhaps the best I have ever been to. Certainly ticked off a lot of layouts that I have wanted to see. Surprisingly quiet yesterday morning so I hope attendances met GEs expectations. Too many traders for my liking. How do any of them find it worthwhile?
Geoff Endacott
There is another video: Attendance was down by 24 - not enough to worry about. We weren't helped by the lack of trains to Chippenham. There was a replacement bus service running all weekend to and from Swindon, Bath and Westbury. Numbers on our shuttle bus to and from Chippenham were down by more than 50%. This was the first year when there have been no trains at all from Chippenham in any direction. Trade is always a tricky one. We can only get the best layouts if we have enough traders to pay the bills. I expect that there will be fewer large traders next year. I hope to add to the specialist trade next year even if have to let them come for next to nothing. One advantage of the Springfield Campus is that we have a lot of room. The show never looks crowded but yesterday morning, for example, 400 people had gone somewhere. When you spread them across five halls they seem to disappear. RMweb Gold Joseph_Pestell Posted April 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 15, 2019 It is indeed a good venue although. as so often, the lighting is poor in the gymnasium. It made Herculaneum Dock look a bit grey - but then Merseyside is often rather grey. All the other layouts fortunately had good lighting rigs. Since you had the Leeds MRS team there, I would have to say that two of the layouts on my current "to see" list are Chapel-en-le-Frith and Grantham. And talking of Leeds MRS, it was rather surreal, as a part Scouser, to be told by a Yorkshireman that I was standing/drowning in a dock. I already knew that.
RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted April 15, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 15, 2019 (edited) Thanks for a very enjoyable show. I usually come from Bristol by train and use the shuttle bus. This time I calculated it might be quicker to come all the way by service bus. I'm not sure if I was right, but with more options for return travel I had the chance to have a look round Corsham town. I hadn't realised (not being a watcher of Poldark) how picturesque a place it is. Must visit Corsham Court one day. Dare we hope that one day it will be possible to get to Corsham by train?
