owentherail
I'm no electrical expert so not sure what I've done, I've a DCC fitted 50 I've not used for about a year, worked ok when in to storage, now shorts when I put on track, changed chip and still shorts out, with a blanking chip in it runs fine in DC, no body corrosion that I can see.....any ideas what to do TIA
owentherail
I fitted sound to one for someone and it kept shorting out, I turned the 8 pin plug round so that according to the labelling on the circuit board it was the wrong way round, but it worked! Richard Well I'll give that a try at least, ta.
RMweb Premium newbryford Posted June 7, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 7, 2018 ISTR that there was an issue with some circuit boards in the early production Class 50s.
34theletterbetweenB&D
Put away working, later faulty. Suspicion of tin whiskers probably on the board soldering, introducing a conductive path for AC, thus applicable to DCC operation only.
