RMweb Premium Compound2632 Posted June 29, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 29, 2018 (edited) Does anybody know of a source for scale drawing of a Johnson 0-4-0ST? MTIA 1116A Class or 1134A Class? Try enquiring of the Midland Railway Study Centre - if they don't have (possible) they may know who to approach at the NRM (probable). PenrithBeacon
1116A Class or 1134A Class? Try enquiring of the Midland Railway Study Centre - if they don't have (possible) they may know who to approach at the NRM (probable).I have bought a Nu-Cast kit of the the type but it isn't at all clear which class the kit is intended to represent. Steven Summerson includes weight diagrams in his books but MR weight diagrams aren't very helpful because they only have bare info and don't include, for example overall length.I was hoping to be able to work out which class the kit is of before buying an expensive drawing from the NRM. I suppose I could just have asked a simple direct question, ie which class of Johnson 0-4-0ST does the Nu-Cast kit represent? Thanks for the advice. Poor Old Bruce
The kit if for a 1322 Class (1116A was one of them). 1907 numbers 1500-1517. The 1134A Class were bigger (heavier) and had totally different brake gear. If you've got the Summerson book, the photos show the difference.
PenrithBeacon
The kit seems to be a hybrid of the two

RMweb Premium Northroader Posted July 1, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 1, 2018 (edited) Norman Eagles, of Sherwood Section fame, did an article on modelling one of the second series, 1523 (1907 numbers) in the Railway Modeller No.69, (-sometime in late 50s) from drawings prepared by himself plus friends in Burton on Trent shed. They do make a handy model. Edited July 1, 2018 by Northroader
Steamport Southport
I'm pretty sure there are drawings in the Wild Swan book. I'll have a look later and confirm if there is. Alas it's only the weight diagrams and small versions at that. Jason Edited July 1, 2018 by Steamport Southport

I usually go to Essery & Jenkinson for a quick overview and only turn to Summerson when I'm after the detail - everything is in the latter but it's not always so easy to get at. technohand
Looking at the pictures available in the various books the drawing looks a bit of a mixture so I would be careful to study them closely before cutting metal
