They are looking truly splendid Chris and I am glad to have been a part of the project and proud to have DC braked prototype number one resident at Aston On Clun.

It's now a little further on than this, but organising gigs and generally not acting my age has been eating into the modelling time. I have a bit of time to myself next week so I have no excuses!

That van, really does look superb. Any chance of a 1:43.5 scale version - or would that really be asking too much?

Regards

Chris H

I can’t see why that wouldn’t be possible although I doubt it would be as simple at scaling up the drawing x1.751

I’l give it some thought

I’m not sure if I should have the handrails body colour or white

The photo suggest body colour so would probably disappear on the model

If I did them in white they would be seen more easily but something in the back of my mind is telling me to paint them the same colour as the body

I would appreciate anyone’s thoughts

I thought so, fortunately you can still see them

I’d already painted the wheels & couplings with frame dirt. The buffers have also been given a coat of brown/rust as it’s easier to paint them off the model

I won’t weather the body until the transfers are applied but I’m going to try not to go too heavy with the frame dirt

Maybe paint part of the handrails with metalcoat polished steel where they would have been handled the most as part of the weathering process Chris so they would show up against the body colour.

I need to reprint my roof because it doesn’t fit, I suspect I’ve printed off the wrong file 🙄

I really should delete previous versions during the design stage

Me and you both, I lost count of how many times I've printed from the wrong file after making changes. nice looking model you have there.

Or just a gentle stroke with a pencil can give a similar effect.

Looks a little better now the paint has dried

I’ve painted the weight the same colour as the floor in the hope it’s less noticeable through the windows?

Looking very good, patience has definitely paid off with the print.

I also used a stick on motorcycle wheel weight and painted it floor colour, just in case the shiny zinc plating showed through the windows once I stick the roof down permanently.

I've sorted out the underframe details since the previous pictures:

I've found a strip of surplus Ratio coach glazing for the windows and roof lights and I'm determined to get that done today!

Those transfers look fabulous, really help to complete the look.

They do indeed and Steve at @railtec-models has done a fabulous job of creating them, it takes the model to the next level.

I'm busy applying mine now that the DC braked prototype has had a coat of varnish and twenty four hours drying time.

I can’t take credit for the transfers, all down to @railtec-models and his fussy customers 🤪

However his fussy customers appreciate what he does! 👍

I'm numbering mine up as 16910, allocated to Newport.

Shrewsbury had one in the 89 series, but that was a big ol' CC7 with the X braced sliding door and 17 foot wheelbase, a whole other can of worms!
