Some 7mm scratchbuilt structures - Update 6th August

Recommended Posts

We just thought that you might like to see the first of the structures finished for our new 7mm scale layout set in 1960s Kingston upon Hull.

Names may have been changed, but each structure Is closely based on a local prototype that exists or existed in the area of the city which has influenced the layout. Taking many hours of research and building each has a thin plywood shell, overlaid with Slaters plasticard and detailed with resin, laser cut or scratch built details to finish. Topped with hand-painted and weathered brickwork.

Extraordinarily good. It feels like I could actually walk right into Moor's & Robinsons (admiring the tiled floor on the way - it's the little things!).

The Pub and Printers  have now had their final signwriting added and the last coat of weathering to match the look to that of similar local prototypes in the late 1960s.

In the mean time the next building to be finished is the street facing coal yard office, which was inspired by that fronting the coal yard at Botanic Gardens Station here in Hull (and indeed for many years after the line had closed).
