Hello Geoff

Unfortunately as Nigel and Rob have already said, there isn't any way to remap the functions.  Only the CV's listed in the manual can be read and not all can be written to.

Don't forget the TTS decoder is based on the R8249 decoder and as such is a fairly basic decoder when it comes to being able to alter CV's.

All I have really done to the file is to increase the list of TTS Decoders that decoder pro can recognise when the chips are read and to populate the sound level tab in the programmer for each TTS decoder added so that the volume levels can be adjusted for each sound from within decoder pro.

Brian

Thank you Brian, that was the information I was looking for. Nevertheless, and even though I will not be using TTS decoders because of that limitation, thank you for the work you have done to help users have greater access to them.

Geoff

I have now added the Peppercorn Class A1 'Tornado' to the file.

Many thanks to RAFHAAA96 for the scan of the manual.

I have also amended the Class 08 definition as it appears half the sound level entries were missing and two horn sounds were associated with the same sound level.

There are now 22 TTS locos/Decoders in the file with both the MTU and Valenta HST's included.

Not all have been fully tested but I have all the manuals for the Locos added except the class 08 and Valenta HST.   If anyone has these locos and could let me have a scan of the manual or at least a scan of the CV list I can ensure any errors if any are rectified.

The updated file should be available in the opening post shortly and then sent to the guys at JMRI to include in a future test release.

This will probably be the last update for a while as I have run out of sources for the Manuals.

I will keep searching and hopefully as the new models and chips are released Hornby will make the manuals available online and I will be able to add them to the file.

I have just received some scans of the Valenta HST Manual thanks to Carvensdmufan.

There are some slight differences when it comes to the horn descriptions.  I'll update the file to reflect this as I used the functions labels from the MTU decoder manual.

An interesting observation is that F18 and F19 are the horn sound for the prototype Loco!  Are Hornby planning something or did they use the Prototype HST for the sounds so decided to include the original horn sounds?

Another interesting note is that the Product ID seems to be on CV181 rather than CV159 so I 'll have to investigate further to see what code needs to be changed to ensure the decoder is detected automatically in Decoder pro.

In the meantime it can still be selected manually.

Oh well so much for not updating again so soon!

I have added a new file which now includes the differences between the MTU and Valenta decoders.

I also noticed a few volume settings had disappeared from the file so these have been restored.

There may still be an issue with detecting the Valenta decoder but as mentioned before it can be selected manually and all the volume settings should be correctly shown.

Hopefully this will be corrected with the next release version of JMRI in December  which I believe will be 4.14

Brian.

Brian

Please remind me of which TTS manuals you are short of again.

Is it just Castle and Coronation or are there others?

Edit: Just seen your list on the other forum.

Ok so after thinking I wouldn't be doing any more updates for a while I was given the last two Steam Locomotive manuals, the Castle and the Princess.

These have been received thanks to two sources RAFHAAA96  and Hornby Hobbies, I have also been given copies of the Lord Nelson and S15 so these have also been included.

I do now expect this to be the last update for a while.   I'll look to update with any new items such as the Vent Van, the J36 and the Stand alone chip with the Class 66 sounds.

These will be added once I have a copy of the sound manuals.

With this update I also took the opportunity to re-organise the sound level tab in the programmer.

The main sound volumes have been grouped together on the right side of the window and all the secondary function sounds have been put into function No. order.

The File will be uploaded in the next few minutes and is also being added to JMRI tonight.

Latest test release of JMRI 4.13.4 has just been released and included the updated file.

Just downloaded JMRI 4.13.4 which recognized my new Valenta HST, along with all my other TTS diesel decoders.

Whole fleet now added to my roster in a matter of minutes.

So thanks for all your efforts Brian.  Very well done indeed.

Picked up my TTS Vent Van this morning and have now finished creating a new decoder definition for the Vent Van.

The definition is a cut down version of the Original decoder definition as the motor controls are not required.

I have added it to the opening post.

Please download and copy both files to the decoder folder to ensure JMRI correctly identifies the Vent Van. The Original file has had to be slightly modified.

I will pass it to the JMRI development team to add to the next test version/release version of JMRI

Unfortunately the Vent van was released too late for the decoder definition to be included in the latest production release 4.14.

No new files were being added to the last test releases before 4.14 was released.

The first test release it should be available in is 4.15.2

I have now added the Hornby J36 0-6-0 TTS Decoder to the JMRI Decoder definitions.

Unfortunately it appears I can no longer attach XML files to posts or PMs as this file type is no longer accepted.

I'll have to look at a way of using another method to allow members to download a copy otherwise it will only be available with the next update of JMRI.

I have now added the file as a zip file to google drive.

If you would like a copy tpo test it is available here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yGZO-PGTiF2F2IaR8Ax7traMlFWmIZe2/view

First try at using google drive so please let me know whether you are able to download the file or have issues.

Ok so been a while since I did any updates

The Britannia class 7 locos have been added along with the Rebuilt Merchant Navy.

The Vent Van 2 has also been added to the NonLoco file.

Thanks should go to Marc N Fournier who updated the file but unfortunately didn't submit it for inclusion in JMRI.

He also added the function labels for the britannia.  Unfortunately this also meant all new locos added to the roster would also have had the same function labels.

A small change rectified this and thanks to him for including the Function labels as it now means all locos have the function labels attached.

The files can be found here:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1mZQLt2Mq52xkl_TlBLay7Wa5K8_BhlSS/view?usp=sharing

If you wish to replace the existing files in JMRI

Go to Program files (X86)/JMRI/xml/decoders

Delte both the HornbyTTS.xml and the Hornby_NonLoco.xml files and replace with the ones in the link.  You will need Administrative rights for this.

Start Decoder pro and in the actions drop down menu select recreate decoder index.

wait till the drop down menu disappears and shut down decoder pro.

Restart decoder pro and in the actions dropdown menu select update decoder definitions.

you will be asked to select a new decoder profile for each TTS loco or vent van.  Select the approppriate one and all the function labels will now be shown.

Have fun

Brian

Excellent thread Brian, have just managed to update my media from your file for 47 033, except I seemed to need to make a new entry to do it. Could I have just refreshed my old entry somehow just for the button media? Anyway, really useful and now much easier to use. Many thanks! John
