RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted August 31, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 31, 2018 Just wondering if anyone knows what happened to the York Model Railway. It used to be housed next door to York Railway Station, then moved to Hemswell Cliff in the early 2,000's. I cant seem to find out if the layout still exists or not. A search on RMWeb doesnt show anything much about it. It was a layout that really inspired me when I was around 10. I found a video of it on you tube. It doesnt look as amazing now but I still remember being awestruck by the size of the layout, the detail of the village, night scene, scenery, automation, cameo's and the number of trains (mostly Hornby RTR). But then, as a 10 year old, anything is amazing! Ian
RMweb Premium Kris Posted August 31, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted August 31, 2018 Some time ago there was some discussion about this, and from memory, I think that the layout was scrapped.
009 micro modeller
Some of the cast metal signs for it in the city are still there.
RMweb Gold ianLMS Posted September 5, 2018 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 5, 2018 Thank you for the replies. The fact nothing comes up on the all knowing Google would indicate the layout is no more. Shame.
toolongtoremember
Thank you for the replies. The fact nothing comes up on the all knowing Google would indicate the layout is no more. Shame. That is a shame, also one of my inspirations as a child when my parents took me there to visit on a family holiday. Looking at that video up top though, it didn't date very well!
