wilwahabri
Fabricated in Bristol a number operated on docksides around the south and southwest. Does anyone make a OO gauge model of this loco?
RedGemAlchemist
Fabricated in Bristol a number operated on docksides around the south and southwest. Does anyone make a OO gauge model of this loco? RTR? No. Sadly RTR 00 industrial tank engines are a little thin on the ground. Kit? Almost certainly. However, could I get some more specifics? Avonside produced a lot of dock shunters and I'm not great with what worked where.

RMweb Premium Andy Kirkham Posted November 21, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 21, 2018 The only docks in the West of England with Avonsides that I can think of was Avonmouth and there's a good selection shown here https://bristolharbourrailway.co.uk/industrial-railways-of-bristol/avonmouth-docks/ Avonside also built some 0-4-0 side tank dock shunters for the GWR, but I think these were only ever used at Swansea https://www.philt.org.uk/Misc/Archive-Photos/i-fCVZzTM
RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted November 21, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 21, 2018 Avonsides featured on Swansea Docks as well, and were very popular at South Wales collieries. I'd say there's the same sort of market for them as there is for the Peckett and Barclay that are available, but I can't imagine any RTR maker being interested at the moment, sadly. Steamport Southport
The most common Avonside dock shunter was the B3 Class 0-6-0ST. Built with a very short wheelbase for negotiating tight curves. No RTR model available, but there is a kit. http://cspmodels.com/abante/index.php?rt=product/product&manufacturer_id=21&product_id=112 I wouldn't necessarily call the GWR 1101 0-4-0Ts Dock Tanks as they were an altered design of ones that were built for Cadbury's Bourneville Chocolate factory. Chocolate Tanks? Nom Nom Nom Jason
