RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted December 5, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 5, 2018 Hello Does anyone else have a problem from time to time with the B4 bogies fitted to new tooling Mk2 coaches (and to a lesser extent Mk1's as well) where the wheel sets seem to become dislodged, the pin points of the axles slip out of the holes in the bogie insides and as a result derail? Never had this problem with B1's or Commonwealth's, just the B4's and it is getting mightly annoying!!
scruff
I know what you mean.. they are a royal pain in the butt! I had to swap my wheelsets around but I now have a Mk2a bso that is unusable.. never had the problem with a Mk1 though.. Cheers Mark
RMweb Gold TomE Posted December 6, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 6, 2018 I've had the same issue on a couple of B4 bogies. It doesn't usually happen whilst they are running, but sometimes in transit the wheelsets become dislodged. I'd wondered about fixing a 10thou square of plastic with a hole over the existing one on the rear face to give a little extra depth for the pinpoint, haven't gotten around to trying it yet though. Tom.
RMweb Premium John M Upton Posted December 8, 2018 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 8, 2018 I am glad it is not just me then! I am going to try fitting a pair of B4s with brass bearing cups and see if that helps.
RMweb Premium acg5324 Posted December 10, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted December 10, 2018 Yes, had this quite a lot. It’s usually just one axle per bogie that gets out of place. Especially been a pain on my 4TC as it has solid bar couplers too. I’ll watch both of your improvements with interest to see how they go.
