Sir TophamHatt
I have an old HST dummy car that I thought was totally dead/empty until I heard a buzzing. Opened it up and saw it had lights (don't know why I thought it didn't before). After putting it back on the track, found the lights were low-ish (compared with LED anyway!), but on. Will it damage it, or suck loads of energy from the track if I leave it on the layout? Not particularly planning to but I might leave it in a siding or something. I guess it's akin to leaving a DC controller on full? My running sessions aren't particularly long (less than 10 mins at the mo!) but just want to know where I stand. RMweb Premium Steven B Posted January 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 4, 2019 It shouldn't do it any harm to either the model or the DCC system; The main difference over DC is that if it has directional lighting then on DCC both the white and red lamps may be on at the same time. It'll be drawing a few mA from the controller. Unless you're running lots of trains at the same time you shouldn't notice it.
