Bachmann Midland Pullman lights advice?

Hi folks,

 

I've just picked up a Bachmann Midland Pullman set and am running it on DC, however I've noticed the cab lights don't work? Is there a way to turn them on or off somehow in analogue mode? There are two switches under each power car above the bogies but they don't seem to do anything?

It may or may not be relevant but the lights don't work on one coach either?

I had problems with lights on my BP a few years ago. Rather then attempt to take apart and potenialy damage ( knowing my luck) or break a £400 model, I sent to B'mann for repair.

New or second hand? Being so expensive, I’d return to the shop if it’s new or to Bachmann for proper fixing if it’s 2nd hand.
