pwr
Alan If you are planning a bus you might want to think about the Hachette 1:43 Bedford OB. Still available on Ebay. I just ordered one for £25. They come in Southern National livery so it would probably need a repaint for your layout unless it was on tour! westerner
At the moment I am definitely NOT thinking of adding a bus. There is no road on the layout. The bridges are Forest Tracks and old tramways. 1 1
MrWolf
It's a wind up, based on the fact that I don't particularly like buses and I really don't like buses on bridges! The bridge, however, I really like, it's an unusual subject that puts me in mind of the bridge that took the Belan bank quarry tramway across the Criggion branch near Melverley. Something that I have been looking for an excuse to model because I didn't want an "ordinary" bridge as a scenic break.

westerner
Enough of buses. I've started on the bridge fence, on its last legs not touch for many a year. 11 1

Scroll down to see what a Forest 'tram' was - http://www.deanweb.info/history2.html Not the usual urban electric trams we might think of; really the Forest tramways were more "wagonways", but heck, what's in a name? 1 2

Popular Post westerner
I've been working on the deck of the bridge. Changed the colour of the surface to a more sandy colour with tyre marks and added vegetation on the verges both inside and outside the fences. Now to to start working on the stone work. 18
Baggies1961
Hi Alan, The bridge looks excellent and blends in superbly with the layout. Best wishes Julian.
MrWolf
It really does look like it's always been there and taken on a new purpose as a farm / logging road. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of the finished stonework. That model alone has given me the urge to build something Criggion branch inspired.

Popular Post westerner
Almost there, still a few minor details to add. I did most of the stone work last night and I took advantage that I had to be in this morning (phone, landline, playing up) to finish of and grab a few snaps. and with the trees back in place. 20

MrWolf
Looking absolutely great, about as decrepit as you can get without the railway company having to do something about it!
Popular Post westerner
Bridge now finished. You may have also noticed that I've made some fiddleyard backscenes to give some continuity on the photos, They need a bit of work to get the colour right. 23
sb67
Looking very nice Alan, extending the backscene through the bridge is a nice touch and works very well.

Yes Alan, working the Backscene through to the Fiddle Yard is not something I've ever thought of, but looks fantastic.
westerner
many thanks for your kind comments. The fiddleyard backscene is only in place for photos as it would get in the way of the operation of the sector plate. 2
