miles73128
Hi Can anybody advise on installing a (diesel) Hornby TTS chip (8pin) into a 21pin loco? Very impressed with the new class 66 TTS. More fidelity to the sounds compared with previous TTS chips eg Class67. Thanks!
meatloaf
you will need a 21 to 8 pin converter readily available on ebay. If its a Hornby loco you wont need the adaptor but you will if its a Bachmann
Midnight-Freight
Just be aware that if it is a Bachmann loco you may not be able to get the body to fit on properly if using a 21 to 8 pin converter along with the tts chip. That's what I found at least with the tts 67 chip. With a bit more faffing about it may have been possible but I just fitted it back into my 8 pin model. cravensdmufan
I found that the Lais DCC plug in converters work well - they don't stand quite so proud as the Bachmann ones. Failing that, TCS 1358 21 pin to 8 pin converters lie nice and flat - you just need to chop off the TTS plug and solder wires to the pre-tinned contacts.
