Today was a good day commissioning the gantry by the sidings. We did have some rain but that did stop after a few minutes....   so we placed the parasol over us so we could continue.... We were making great progress until we noticed that we didn't have a red aspect due to a dry joint.

Major surgery was then required on the signal head.... eventually it was sorted. All standing proud...

Boo Hoo, you promised me that I could be the Manager tomorrow!

I won't come round and wreck your signals again if you don't change your mind.

Whilst Ray is busying himself, I carried on with the station area fitting the canopies and trying to finish off constructing the main building but I'm waiting for some lighting before fitting the building to the platform, so hopefully this will be finished next week. Here are a few pictures taken this morning.

Well after seeing Paul R's Class 40's....... I couldn't resist, so I opted for this lovely beauty. I decided to go for a green one so I think rule 1 will apply to this loco.

Don't worry Andy, you'll avoid getting a hernia from lifting it if you don't have one.

Jim's one is currently with me to have the decoder fitted and I had to get my wife to help me carry it from the car into the house!

I am conducting a health & safety course on lifting this week ...... Feel free to sign up

I wondered why the car was low at the rear when you pulled away today :D

They are very heavy locos. I think the chassis must be the same as the original gangway fitted models before Heljan started to put their diesels on a diet!

Paul

I believe it is the original chassis, or else Heljan would be charging a higher price if they had to produce a new chassis.

Yes I think you are right. The new 31/4 falls into the same category

What with LJ on the signal gantry I’d be worried about ‘cable theft’ he’s probably eyeing up an easy few quid via the scrap man ……got to keep your eye on that guy :scared:

I have to make sure it doesn't get to tell his siblings or they all be wanting to do a night shift
