Maritime Class 66’s

By pure chance, today I caught 66047 and 66727 both in Maritime blue livery rolling through Peterborough railway station.  As Rails are doing a Bachmann special, 66727 in Maritime livery but I’m wondering how difficult it would be to renumber it too 66047?

Hi Jools,

Unfortunately, the only really common thing is the colour.

66047 is a four door 66 with WIPAC lights.

66727 is a five door 66 with revised WIPAC lights and a reduced size fuel tank.

Couple that to the fact that 66727 needs large numbers and logos removing...and it becomes a bit bigger than just a simple renumber.

However, if your wish is to have the model you want to your preference, then nobody can complain.

Good Luck if you take the plunge...

Hi there,

All I can say is drat lol.  Maybe I’ll consider getting a Bachmann early build Class 66 which has been a poor seller in the past and use that.  All I need now is to get a paint match, decals and nameplates if they are available.

Decals available from Railtec

Indeed, both the decals and 3d waterslide plates are available at Railtec:

The decals are spot printed so there's no superfluous carrier film to have to cut out, and the subtle pale turquoise colours are spot on too.
