It helps if you attack both mating surfaces with a fibreglass brush, until any shine is gone, then use a good (ideally industrial-grade) superglue. I also drill through both parts and superglue a bit of brass wire into the hole to be on the safe side. If space allows, bend some excess length through right angles above and below the assembly.
