RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 15, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 15, 2019 (edited) Morning this has been an idea for a while now. Today I bought a 600mm x 90mm floating shelf ideal for a photo plank/test track. Tomorrow I should receive my Peco setrack for this build. The theme of the layout will be based around diesel locomotives which I have a great passion for. I hope to post some pictures tomorrow once the track has been laid. RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 15, 2019 Today the track has been laid to the floating shelf along with part of a platform area. I’m happy with the way the layout is looking. I have taken a picture of the progress.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 15, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 15, 2019 More progress on the photo plank,I have been weathering the platform area and the walled sections. Over the coming week I hoping to add the cable trunking and start to lay some ground cover and ballast. A picture of today’s progress.

Marly51
You must have quite a collection of micros now, Kevin? I might try a small shelf diorama or Inglenook, once the Cake Box Challenge is over!

I only have a few I have kept, the others I have auctioned for cancer research which is close to my heart. This photo plank is a keeper though as I can use it to run and photograph my collection.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 17, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 17, 2019 Today I have laid some trunking and one of the lids is left off so the wire can be seen. This is often seen in the real world. A light brown ballast has been laid today, I hope to get a picture up later today.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 17, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 17, 2019 Hi as promised a couple of pictures of the progress on my photo plank. The ballasting should be dried properly tomorrow then I can start some weathering on the trunking.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 18, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 18, 2019 Hi today the grass work has been completed and the flowers just need to be added. Oil drums and tank are in situ along with the line side workers. I need to add some more lineside discarded items and weathering around the layout. Im really pleased with the way my photo plank is looking. A few pictures of my progress. 3

Crisis Rail
Good minimalistic work - how about an extension for a point to shunt to the rear of the wall with scenic breaks (tree or Bush?) to add operational interest? Ian

Ian Ian thanks for the kind comments and interest in the layout. I still need to add some shrubs and a few pallets. Im leaving this as a one line photo plank as this is all good practice for a larger layout build.
RMweb Gold Sweet pea Posted September 18, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 18, 2019 I know it’s a photo plank for mainly my diesel locomotives but I thought I would share a few pictures with one of my Hornby club locos.
RMweb Gold Ralf Posted September 20, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted September 20, 2019 Very impressive stuff, wish I could bring myself to be even vaguely that practical. Have you got any plans for a back scene? Keep it up Ralf
