RMweb Gold The Fatadder Posted December 11, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted December 11, 2019 Has anyone attempted to fit Romford/Markits crank pins to Bachmann RTR wheels in order to fit finer scale rods? I have a set of Bachmann 2251 wheels which are left over from a P4 conversion on a current generation Bachmann 2251. I would like to re use them under a Finney 2251 kit that I am initially building in OO, saving on the cost of a set of Markits (I already have a set of 3mm hornblocks to use on it). However the Bachmann con rods are rather crude so I want to use the ones included with the kit, the issue being that the Bachmann crank pins are far too thick to use with finer rods. If it is possible, it would also lend itself to improving my other Bachmann models rods….
RexAshton
Romford/ Markits crankpins are (I think) 10BA. I would think the Bachmann ones will be metric but if there's enough material in the wheels you could try drilling and tapping the wheels 10BA.
