Dapol O gauge Sentinel - a quick question

Just a quickie and I’m not sure if it hasn’t been answered before.

The BR version has black buffer beams. Shouldn’t they be red? I know the departmental ones were red..

I would assume so. My 4mm scale Model Rail Departmental one has red buffer beams.

I would assume red. I doubt BR in the 1950s would be letting locomotives run about without red buffer beams. The unions would be in uproar.

 

Red and black are notoriously difficult to tell apart in black and white photos. Its finding a colour photo of them.

 

It's probably another Dapol mistake unfortunately.
