More likely to attract  him with the smell of fresh baked bread and frying bacon.

Having just risked hypothermia and frost bite to watch some trains go by, that is very tempting

I'll have to make do with coffee and cake though.

I did think I was going to watch someone get bowled over.

They got off a train and took the shortcut across the track, oblivious to the train going the other way.

There was about 5 seconds in it give or take.

As for cleaning, not my choice.

I managed to get away with just the vacuuming and some light dusting, but it bought me a  3 hour pass.

It was too cold to use all 3 hours  though. 2c with a stiff, lazy breeze and snow flurries has driven me back for cake

I would not have bothered to go out, and instead spent the full three hours on a cake fest.

Cake wasn't on the menu before I went out.

The restorative effects only came into play upon my return.

Nice bit of gingerbread cake and  some apple cake have restored the circulation in the extremities.

As Jean Luke Picard would have said:

'The hippo needs a three hour cake fest:  Make it so!'

Feel free to send fresh baked bread, bacon, cake, alcoholic refreshment!

Had to clear snow twice outside the house today.  Had 6 inches, (15cm), dumped on us in 5 hours.  Even the Snow Ploughs are struggling!

The last big meal till tomorrow night has just been consumed.

Potato pancakes with goulash. Very tasty.

Just a light breakfast tomorrow and then nothing till the main event around 5pm.

Most shops are closed, one or two supermarkets are open for those last minute supplies and then it's all closed till Wednesday.

I hope we've got enough in  otherwise we will have to survive on beer alone

I was going through some recently acquired records and saw this one; it made me think of a certain resident Hippo:

Note that it is the Eastman Symphonic WIND Ensemble! 😲

He'll probably be doing that too after the Brussels Sprout fest.....

Good question. It was recorded back in 1957 or so; there is a small notation in fountain-pen ink that state "11-2-57", probably the date that the purchaser bought it.

I was around then and was well practiced in what is sometimes referred to as a Poonami.

Roasted sprouts:  We are having them tomorrow this evening.  Yum!

Just finished clearing another 12 inches, (30cm), of snow from outside of the house to the road, that came down overnight.  Another two hours gone!  Now warming up with tea and cake.  Mother-in-Law is making Cozonac, (Sweet bread) and my wife is making curtains!!
I’ve got to clear the snow off the car next!

Merry Christmas everyone on TNM.

We're having a white Christmas

Well  not much to write hone about, but snow is falling and there is a light dusting on the grass and roofs.

It's that fine,  dry powdery  stuff.

Will you even open a small tin of Fresh Flour so that the aroma makes him feel at home. Jamie

I can do with someone to pop in and do some cleaning, will "Bleached Linen" do as an alternative?

Sorry but both of those colours are so out of fashion now - the one to use in 2024 (according to the Pantone Colour Institute) is Peach Fuzz, as illustrated in the link below - together with links to other "Colours of the Year"

"Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It's a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul"

https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-of-the-year/2024

Interesting to see that in several places on their website, they use both spellings for Colour and Color

.

Don't know who Pan Tone is but when I suggested Peach Fuzz to Mrs SM42 she said,

"Oh my god! On the walls?  Nice" in that sort of sarcastic way.

Don't think Fresh Flour is dead yet.

Pan* Tone is some bloke called Tone

Mrs SM42's not heard of him either

Anyway we have Koledy ( Christmas songs, no not by Wham, Slade et al) playing, so we are getting into the Christmas vibe at SM42 Villas
