Binky
I'm planning on building a small space layout and using a Class 08 loco but have read that some small locos struggle over insulated (dead) frog points. Is this likely to be an issue if I use Peco Insulfrog points as the "dead" space on the frog is smaller than some other manufaturers points? Thanks

Thanks The Hornby 08 has a flywheel, that should keep it moving over a dead frog. But if you've got clean wheels and well-laid track you should be OK in any case. Jeff Smith
If you have not already purchased the points I would strongly recommend live frogs to reduce the risk. You can use them straight out of the packet without modification provided you put insulating rail joiners in the recommended locations. Does the Hornby 08 have any centre wheel springing as this will help with electrical pick-up? 1
