Thanks Neat Dettol, not a supermarket 'own' brand, leave overnight for best results. Random ice cream container - Kelly's Cornish The method did not work on the brass D15, maybe a different paint? Guest Jack Benson
After almost a month, something arrived from Colin at Alan Gibson A set of milled frames for a T9 but with axle holes not hornblock cutouts. Just need some coupling rods or maybe the existing ones will fit?
hayfield
You can order either cutouts or axle holes with these frames, I guess if you have not specified which you have a 50% chance of getting the ones you want. I guess its easier for the modeller to cut slots rather than try and adapt to axle holes
pete_mcfarlane
I hadn't realised those Gibson frames could be had with axle holes instead of cutouts.
RMweb Premium DLT Posted November 27, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 27, 2020 The Captain has done a really nice job on the 0395, and D15s have now been passed to the DLT Workshop for renovation/resurrection/rejuvenation, and the job(s) will be described over there. Cheers, Dave.

Guest Jack Benson
Building the 0395 has been a constant quest for missing details, thankfully Martin Finney's T3 and 0415 share many common features. Finding an image of the whistle manifold was a sticking point, the Finney PDF instructions were studied and it was evident that there was some form of manifold supporting the whistle and connecting steam feeds from either side of the boiler. A plea for help resulted in a thumbnail image of a 7mm Finney T3 in build and the riddle was solved. Meanwhile, Brassmasters came up trumps with a sprue of very useful details. A chance discovery of Caley Jim's lovely lost wax backhead will fill the cab nicely We are very grateful to everyone involved. Guest Jack Benson
The arrival of an etch and castings from Brassmasters has resulted in considerable progress on the tender body. 30566, a rare image of the cab Creative Commons Attribution Share-alike license 2.0 Courtesy Mike Morant

For a rather humble 0-6-0 it has been an adventure in discovery. Cheers
Guest Jack Benson
Adams 0395 in 4mm - 9 Up and running The 0395 is finally running on Beaminster Road, it is about 80% complete but that last 20% will take at least 80% of the effort. and the cab interior is coming on a treat This will be a superdetailed 0395 Thanks to everyone Cheers and Stay Safe
Guest Jack Benson
I almost forgot, did I mention this? This PDK D15 arrived for my birthday, it needed a new motordrive and it received a High Level Roadrunner and a venerable Mashima 1224 is doing the business. It might loose it SR number but it is correct for the '49-52 continuum that seems to exist in West Dorset. Guest Jack Benson
An unopened Amercom Winston Churchill has pitched up, its Triang origins are obvious but at less than a tenner it represents a bargain compared to 'collectable' Triang bits. Thanks to David Smith's excelllent description of motorising the Amercon model, Pete McFarlane's build of an Airfix BoB and Tim Shackleton's masterful account of bullying an ancient Triang model into an early BLP. The finished model should be a BLP at the start of the '50s, original cab, unfaired chimney, safety valves in the original location and all the usual pedant pick-up points. But the first major task will be finding a better chassis, that is going to be fun........

Emma As proved by our Hornby Torrington, their chassis is perfectly adequate and the conversion as described by David Smith is a tad cheaper and easier. Guest Jack Benson
Well Finally, broke into the Amercom model, it was more robust than expected but the Triang ancestry is obvious. Not bad for less than a tenner and the tender isn't much worse/better. Next job is to discover what needs to be removed to allow it to fit onto a Chinese BLP chassis after which the fun of upgrading it. Guest Jack Benson
One feature of (not all) the 0395 are the injectors, positioned between the second and third axles, similar to the T9 (below). they differ from the T3 on which the injectors are fitted behind the cab footsteps. Unfortunately not available as a spare from Hornby, thankfully Brassmasters offer a sprue for their T9 which contains one injector (top right on the sprue)
