The building comes  as walling and a tightly fitting roof unit. The best bit of design the columns are separate to avoid damage and also on a spacer strip that gets the spacing right and slips into a slot in the ceiling of the canopy are on the roof section.  In keeping with my modelling standards-idiot proof !   Hopefully available from Open factory shortly.

All this sitting around means seats required. Thanks to York Modellmaking for adding the shrink ray to their 4mm model log leg seats . www.yorkmodelrail.com    These came today and 4 of the 8 on the fret glued up, will go with brown wood and grey weatherbeaten and white legs which seems common in the 1980s phots. 1:1 pound coin for those who have forgotten what they look like.

Well just a little shudder forward today having been stabbed by the NHS - second go. I got round to gluing rock samples around  layout and to refresh mind set out some buildings. 

 A general view - Plockton building balanced in place and the Pop up villa now to station hotel. Other than 4 outcrops   behind old loco shed all now glued down, a little making good to do from chips while sawing to fit . York model lazer footbridge now made up .  I will have to "imagineer" the second platform shelter as not enough room at this stage. 

Just to show how watertower built into rock face - kyle inspired and rocks hide most of switches. Big rock cutting hides Inverness end exit well enough with good yard improbably hewn from rock but best I could come up with given the finely detailed planning undertaken on this project !      Next will be to add more modrock bandage to fill out rest of landform. See you in 2 months !

Modroc festival ;

Showing modroc in foreground, area behind has card foot print for a cottage and also shows how a pop up water tower has been adapted to make a retaining wall, the station hotel will sit in the cutout in the hill side, but in this shot is escaping down the road to the off scene village.  Light wight hydrocal filler awaits to give  rounded finish to the landform- with rock out crops  piecing rough grassland  is the general idea.   

 

 

This evening this area has been given a modroc shell bar the last tiny part top right of the middle bluff.

A quick shot showing progress over last few days with most of basic modroc in place and after a quick clean buildings place to check overall views.

The engine shed will have one way blocked up and a roller shutter on other and some commercial transport clutter in a concrete fenceposted /chainlink fenced compound . Old HR yard crane from N brass will go on road behind signalcabin. Platform surfaces to cut and fit after landform give light Hdryocal coating to blend in rocks ready for adding ground cover , need a few trees a small amount of bushes to retain open look. Grass mat offcut just to see how colours work - it is far too green, I am after a yellower straggling surface.

Most "landform done now up to roots level. Platforms and area for station building added with joins filled- await sanding and some test primer to check they are invisible enough. 

 

LH corner comes along with a bit more to add infront of rocks - this will be a bit of an enlosed grazing land , base for a second cottage and veg patch, rest will be a bit boggy behind  ex signal box and the Level crossing control building, well in my vague plan anyway. Hopefully platform will go grey later today.

Nice use of curved Setrack turnouts - they really are a Godsend.

Update, static grass growing well.  An evenings work with static gizmo sold for making tufts of ebay, great for N,

Mix from Model tree shop 4mm dead grass and winter meadow along with wwscenics 1mm scorched grass and 2mm Patchy in varying proportions.

 

quite a bit to vac up tomorrow and review application but does look fairly as I recall trips to the far north ranges of BR.

The overhead shot shows a possible siding on the top edge - the Ben Ando siding as he suggested it. Track cut this morning in possession and peco RH point to install, I will fit a PL11 surface mount and cross wire with three way turnout so no need for extra wires in control panel.  Only drawback no PL11 tohand... 

moving board  will allow a clean up of unstuck grass ready for a second sowing.

Layout vacc`ed perhaps 70% of grass stuck down so more visits required however turnout installed, siding isolation push button installed and tested ok.  Point motor on order. Shift pattern prevents a real visit in opening hours so hopefully postie will deliver in a few days.  Ballasting has caused loss of power on loop siding- seeped around a fishplate sufficiently to insulate, a bit of solder to bridge joint will cure but it can wait  until point motor arrives and a few hours after work next week perhaps. No rush it is a hobby after all.

 

Work on new signalcabin started after test parts from Pop up arrived last week as well. More on that shortly but first looks at lazer cut sheets are very promising but fiddly in 2mm!

the layout is coming on well good to a scottish prototype and that you are using Pop Up  have a look at the crofters cottages they do really add to the scene.I have four of them on my layoutand it adds reality ,will you be running the sleeper ?

Left side of shelving two boxes getting there with steps and window frames fitted - these cut out of backing so flush fit possible.

Just a pic of current developments, goods shed now off track and two oil tanks have landed, engine shed now single track  and the lazer signal boxes placed  on platform is a tiny  shelter as suits the minor platform.

current location of the ex HR engine shed as if a track came off siding. If Oil tanks can be based and not over power station then this is where shed will go.

It is a 2mm shoot down of the 4mm version from Andy at Pop up designs.  Even the window frames were cut out of 0.8mm ply and the widow bars are thick hair sort of size which is pretty amazing.
