Day 36 of 365:
Not very productive today, but I have renumbered two of the four TSL Polybulks. I've used individual numbers cut from a Railtec Transfers Grainflow sheet. My eyes are now boggled so enjoying a whisky! Or are they boggled because of the whisky? 🤷‍♀️

Day 43 of 365:
Finally some time in the shed with the airbrush. I was going to say the BMA was finished now, but I need to add blue securing straps. The two Dogfish have had a light dusting, these were fairly newly painted in 1990. I'll need to paint some of them in black and add some rusty weathering. A job for another time.
The four TSL Polybulks have had the airbrush stage of weathering completed too. All four prototypes are uniquely different in terms of weathering. One of which was freshly painted in 1989 so will remain pretty clean.

Day 45 of 365:
Tonight I've applied the washes to three of the four renumbered polybulks. The fourth has been weathered, but will remain fairly clean. One has had some 'white spotting' as per the prototype photo. They will probably require another wipe down tomorrow once dry.

Day 46 of 365:
I picked this VGA up at Stafford show some years back for just a few quid. Somebody had superglued the Railfreight and Speedlink boards in place, and unfortunately it's left marks on the van sides. Looking at several prototype photos of the late 80s will show these vans with what looks like dark grey hand brushed paint where these boards where previously located, and a new vinyl Railfreight logo on top. I'm hoping I can replicate this and add some weathering to mask the glue damage. The tops panel has also been removed ready for a new number etc.

Day 47 of 365:
This morning before work I gloss varnished the areas where transfers were needed on the VGA. I've used a Railtec Transfers sheet as by chance it includes the prototype tops number of the chosen van. Screw links and air pipes fitted too.
I've also started a Rapido Trains UK Ferry Van. I originally ordered the ZSX in Railfreight livery which has a livery error, but was offered a swap on my Pre order by Rainbow Railways. I took the offer and have stripped it of its early 80s details. Some masking and brush painting was added before transfers can be added tomorrow. Sorry for the poor photo.

Day 48 of 365:
Tonight seems like not much done in the short amount of time available. Pipework fitted to the ZSX and more gloss varnish ready for transfers which should arrive soon. The body was removed so the NEM couplings could be removed. The VGA transfers were also glossed over.

Day 49 of 365:
My phone camera takes all the photos on the layout (and workbench), and usually I am happy enough with the outcome. Red is always a colour the phone camera struggles with, and this is no exception.
Anyway, I've added the transfers to the Ferry Van. A mix of Fox and Railtec Transfers, with some 'modellers licence' used for the CCE DEPT lettering.

Day 50 of 365:
Tonight I've started to weather this ZAA Pike. It's an EFE model, it's not the best model in the world, but it was another bargain purchase before Christmas. In 1990, it looks like most were repainted a few years before so they're not that rusty. This one is just starting to get tatty, so I've blown over the body lightly with a pale grey to tone down the paint work. Then, used a stiff bristled brush to dry brush some light rust. Bachmann 47 air pipes fitted, as the ones supplied belong in the bin.

Day 51 of 365:
Is anyone bored yet ?
Tonight I've done the inside of the ZAA Pike. Again, Dry brushing a rust colour with a stiff bristled brush. Followed by three different coloured washes to the sides and deck. Photo shows it wet so once dry it'll be matt.

Day 54 of 365:
Airbrush day; The 58 has had the door primed, and then painted with Army Painter Ash Grey. Then once dry, I masked the lower half up and mixed Ash Grey with a small amount of Charcoal Grey to get a colour I was happy with. The yellow cab sides also had a coat of gloss varnish ready for numbers to be applied.
The tube also had a coat of Vallejo Grey Primer, and once dry I mixed yellow and white for a faded appearance.
