nzscottish
Hello All, After seeing the East Kilbride clubs old "Aviemore" track plan, its a strong contender for my next layout. I have the steam allocations at Inverness and Aviemore for 1958 to 1962 and know there were spade loads of Black 5's on the Highland Main Line. I have even seen a photo of a B1 on shed at Inverness. My question is did any Clans or Brits work up to Inverness from Perth (during a layover from Kingmoor maybe) if only a rare occurrence? Thanks in advance NZSCOTTISH
Ben Alder
A Clan made it to Inverness once or twice - but even though supposedly designed for the Highland line they were a rare sight north of Perth. The LMS 8F's were regularly worked to there during the war if you want a bit of variety to a Five....
nzscottish
Thanks for the info. There must have been some decent loads behind those 8Fs! Just maybe circa 1960 there will be a international gathering of the clans in Inverness!
andytrains
Have a look at:- https://shedbashuk.blogspot.com/2016/04/inverness-1938-1962.html Gives details of what was on Inverness shed on particular dates. No larger Standards. Standard 5MT 4-6-0's & Standard 4MT 2-6-4T. Andy.
nzscottish
Thanks mate I have trolled the shed bash site earlier but as you never say never. I thought Perth could have flicked a Kingmoor Standard up to Invers for a return trip. I've fired a Black 5 on the Strathspey so I do have a soft spot for those beasts.... andytrains
Looks like a bit of "Modellers Licence" is the order of the day!
