kirley
Great job on the Red Star containers which reminded me I painted up some but never finished them. You can add Merlinir and Ian McNally [MIR] should have the decals for Containers and Lorries. Can’t remember who sent me this picture of a rare photo of the NIR Parcel Lorries. RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted October 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2021 (edited) Four Provincial Wagons flat car kits arrived yesterday and I have already built three of them. Weathering next. The flat car kits are fantastic - highly recommended. You get a great single piece moulded side door CIE container with them as well. leslie10646
Hi Darius, that's a super job. Thanks for the very positive feedback on the kits. I don't need to advertise with customers like you! The one-piece CIE container was an attempt to ease the pain of those who want things RTR. It was doubly successful as it provides a nice heavy (scale) container to keep light things like flats on the tracks - especially if your track laying is as bad as mine! RMweb Gold Darius43 Posted October 22, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted October 22, 2021 Made a start on a bogie container flat using a spare Kirk 57’ chassis and trusses, bits of plasticard and some spare Triang bogies. Cheers Darius

Cheers Darius Those Red Star containers look amazing - all the more so for being such a niche and short-lived thing, and not at all widely travelled! A question - I took a picture of two at York Road at some stage about 1989, I think. One had the waistband and vertical stripes in black as on your model. The other had those in maroon - in fact there may have been two of them. If I can find my pictures (a job of work in itself), I will post them. So - why were some black and some maroon? Was there a difference?
