69843
G'day all, Asking on behalf of a friend investigating the DRS Stobart/Tesco train-what class is the twin platform wagon in the attached photograph? We are aware that it is not an IKA (or at least the type as modelled by Dapol) and is definitely not an IDA, but are stumped as to what it is. Unfortunately no search of photos or videos has given us a clear enough view of the code to work it out. Is anyone able to lend a hand? https://www.flickr.com/photos/94418464@N08/9175857125/

Martyn Reed has these on his site:- https://ukrailwaypics.smugmug.com/UKRailRollingstock/F/FKA-Megafret-intermodal-twins/
markw
That is an IKA, but it is from a different build to the version modelled by Dapol. There are several noticeably different versions of the same basic design built by different builders for different users, at least 3 different types have operated in the UK.
hmrspaul
It looks similar to this one I took a lot of detail photos of in York, It has a very different deck to the usual 'open framework' of these 4909 wagons. https://PaulBartlett.zenfolio.com/aaemegafretdb/ee674d9af Paul
Mark Saunders
As Paul suggests probably one of these. A variation in the Megafret family from a different French builder. The headstocks/end, intermediate coupling, handbrake wheel and footings on the sides are slightly different!
69843
Thanks all. That definitely gives us a solid answer. I'm very quickly learning that modern UK intermodal wagons are a fair sized minefield!
