Sorry Robin, they have been selling so fast I couldn't get a copy sent up to myself just yet, we sold out briefly last week, fresh stocks are due in today. Once I have caught up with this one, I will do a review for sure. Meanwhile, I can see there are just two customer reviews posted so far on our website, and they are both 5 stars.

Hi Robin, well after a week and on the basis that Kevin presumably hasn't received any more copies yet, I'll make a stab at giving you an answer.

It's pretty good, images are drawn largely from the Great Western Trust and the Online Transport Archive, plus a few of the author's own and also some from his collection. There is a worthwhile "colour section" including some real gems, such as a couple with heir dog awaiting their train at Golant Halt and a gloriously grubby "Brettel Lane", just north of Stourbridge Junction. The author states his intention to use images of use to modellers and that have generally not been seen in print before, and I would say he is successful in this. Overall it is a worthwhile book that covers its subject well - a lot of the images being taken in earlier BR years when there was more variety. It is particularly strong when it comes to South Wales and its lines, a fascinating area and well recorded in this book.

I have it in stock and my take on it is here. It is also in stock at Booklaw, and of course you can also purchase it direct from the actual publisher Pen and Sword.

Or Strathwood, obviously - when it comes back into stock😉

Happy to report for Simon and everyone else that Great Western Branch Line Gallery is once again back in stock having seen a big customer response after us advertising it as not only our book of the week on here and elsewhere too, which caused a big spike in demand, so yes it was out of stock either side of last weekend for four days in total, that's all.

With all of the clamour to secure copies of this newly released title and the fact that over half the print run has sold out already within two weeks of its launch, we thought we better make this our book of the week while we still can.

Lots of our customers also think it's great too based upon these comments rushed to us.

"Just had my Somerset & Dorset railway book I must say impressive packing just great.
Plus, the parts of the book I have looked at so far are worth the wait and the money.
Thank you"
- Jonathan Green by email

"The S&D atlas is one of the best railway books that I have ever seen. It is well worth the money, not least because nearly all the colour shots have never been published before and, thanks to Gerry Nichols of Bristol HMRS, there are plenty of excellent shots from the Mark Warburton Archive. If you want one, order a copy now as they are quickly running out."

- Chris Youett on Facebook

"Safely received today - what a wonderful tome!" - Chris Bone on Facebook
