It's 950001 now, was it back then?

Pretty sure it's always been 950001 - specially built on the  Class 150 production line in 1987

Somewhere I have a pic of it being built at York.

edit - reading some more -a couple of comments say it was classed as a 180 test unit, but there are no pics of it carrying a 180 number that immediately come to hand. It has always been 999600/999601 car numbers.

Painted into Railtrack green blue around late 2000/early 2001 and then into Network Rail yellow in 2002 when it was definitely numbered 950001

I can only find one pic of it with green/blue carrying the number 950001.

A couple of 159s at Honiton from 2006 (14th July ad 7th September respectively). Only three of the class received the all-over-coloured roof treatment, and 159008 was the last to retain it. Note the dead aircon on 159005!

Both taken from the box window using my first digital camera, a Panasonic Lumix FZ-30 bridge.

Followed by one from 2011, 150247 about to depart Honiton after crossing a down Waterloo train on 23rd May.

By then I still had my Lumix bridge camera but, for most of my railway shots, like this one, I employed a Nikon D5000 with a Sigma 17-70mm, f/2.8-f/4 zoom lens.

I can't currently lay hands on my full notes for this period, but IIRC the unit was on an Exeter- Axminster working that returned empty via Yeovil, Castle Cary and Taunton for route refresher purposes.

The unit is still a regular sight around Exeter, but the sole booked GWT working up the Southern route normally produces one of the 158s made up to 3-car units.
